MSN backgammon - game review
One of the internet hottest uses is games and one of the hottest games of all times is backgammon. If you want to learn this game or even if you are a player and you want to pass your time by playing on the internet there are a few backgammon softwares on the internet you can choose between. One of them is the MSN backgammon software.
MSN backgammon - review
As claimed before, if you want to play backgammon on the internet, one of the options is to enter the MSN gaming zone and use the MSN backgammon software suggested on this site. After logging into the MSN gaming zone (important thing you need to know is that without a hotmail Email account you can't enter the MSN backgammon or any other game on the MSN gaming zone), you can enter the MSN backgammon software. The technology used on the MSN backgammon is flash, which means that it takes a while to download and play. Another problem - after every step you will have to wait for the downloading. While waiting you get to watch some advertisements…after a minute or more, the MSN backgammon will be opened and you'll be asked to choose between three kinds of games: against computer, a friend you will call or a player that is close to your skill level (the MSN backgammon will choose him for you- you can't do it yourself.)

MSN backgammon - the game
As can be seen on the picture bellow, the graphic design is not too bad- although the MSN backgammon software is using only 2D interface and not 3d as some more sophisticated softwares (gammon empire etc.). While playing, you can chat with the one playing against you in a very friendly chat system. The playing area is small (almost half of the screen of the MSN backgammon software is occupied by advertisements and a chat system) and you can't get the feeling of a real game. There is no use for double clicking or any other sophisticated combination. You don't get to approve your move and after you made one there is no way to cancel it. The biggest problem is the number of players on this system- not more then a few hundreds at the same time. (The number on the MSN backgammon lobby is bigger, but according to my guess it includes players that are not available (players that chose to play against someone they called through the msn messenger).

MSN backgammon - the experience:
If you are looking for a backgammon software but you don't care too much about the game itself, if you want to combine the game with a random chat (with some bored old lady or an enthusiastic teenager (: ..) then the MSN backgammon software will do it for you, but if you are looking for something that will remind you the feeling of the real game - you should look elsewhere: the MSN backgammon software is not for this. (and if you are looking for a chat, what are you doing here?)
