Checker play
Another one for the "what the hell were you thinking" files. Here it should be pretty clear that you should be happy you rolled such a great number (Joker) and that making the opponent's 6pt is the correct play. I went from being on the verge of getting gammoned to being right back into the game. Since I was behind in the race I thought it would be clever to keep a checker back there to be a nuisance to those white men coming around the board. Clever if I'm looking for a way to lose maybe.
With white having men pinned back on my 7pt and 3pt, I am likely to have several chances to hit him as he comes around because I have the better timing. By running with one checker I am giving white the opportunity to put me on the bar and keep me there while he brings all his checkers safely around.
Key points to remember: When you have the better timing, take advantage of it and dont give your opponent an opportunity to get it back by keeping you on the bar. Oh ya.. and dont turn a huge joker into a huge blunder with a bonehead play.
