Finish them off! When the game appears to
be in hand, several players tend to get lazy and just bring their
checkers around the board and not think too much, but one must always be
vigilant. Many a game has been won from a 1pt anchor so always stay on your
toes. Making the shift from the 5pt is a must here to stop your opponent
from making the point. It is much easier to bear off safely when your opponent
doesnt have your 1pt. And with 4 on the bar there is no reason not to be a hog
and go for the backgammon (if I were 3 away for instance instead of
2). Keys to Remember: Dont let your opponent get an
anchor. Anchors in your home board are bad. Opponents checkers on the
bar are good. Simple. Hopefully I'll get it right next time.
