Checker play
For Real?
This is a tough play and beginners rarely get this one right. You pretty much HAVE to hit here and then decide what to do with the 3. You are behind in the race and containing that last checker is crucial. But leave all those blots laying around you ask? Look at it this way. Odds are you will not be hit. If you are not hit you will have the advantage and may be able to keep your opponent on the bar for the rest of the game. If this was a money game or a longer match you would have a very efficient double if your opponent failed to come in on their next roll.
Keys to Remember: Dont think about the bad things that could happen, think about the risk vs. reward. The risk is certainly there but the reward is even greater. Being on the bar vs. a 4pt board is no fun. This is the play I would not want my opponent to make if we switched sides.
