For Real? This is a tough play and
beginners rarely get this one right. You pretty much HAVE to hit here and then
decide what to do with the 3. You are behind in the race and containing
that last checker is crucial. But leave all those blots laying around
you ask? Look at it this way. Odds are you will not be hit. If you are
not hit you will have the advantage and may be able to keep your opponent on
the bar for the rest of the game. If this was a money game or a longer match
you would have a very efficient double if your opponent failed to come in on
their next roll. Keys to Remember: Dont think about the bad
things that could happen, think about the risk vs. reward. The risk is
certainly there but the reward is even greater. Being on the bar vs. a 4pt
board is no fun. This is the play I would not want my opponent to make if we
switched sides.
