I was too worried here trying to avoid disaster by
playing safe when the best way to avoid disaster was to mix it up and
keep my opponent off-balance. By only hitting one of my opponents checkers
I was pretty much gauranteeing that my opponent would hit me loose on every
number besides a 6-6. The best thing to do here was to put the pressure on my
opponent by putting "two on the roof" by hitting twice. That way, only a
2 or 1-1 would allow me to be hit. That way, I have a good chance of getting
that last checker out and around the board while picking up another checker or
two. That way, I would have a better chance of winning. If I was thinking "that
way", thats what I would have done. Key points to remember:
When in trouble, keep your opponent off balance and limit their chances of
improving their position. This is also a good key to go by when your
opponent is well distributed to make key points and to improve situations that
cant get much worse.
