Checker play
Count Shots
This is no time to be greedy, or at least the wrong way to go about being greedy. I thought putting my opponent on the bar and taking off an extra checker would give me a better chance for the gammon when really I gave them a better chance of saving it.
Keys to remember: There is a time to count shots.. this is one of them. By making this play I left 15 shots (42, 24, 51, 15, and any 6). By moving both checkers from the 6pt I only leave 11 shots. Clearly the best option.
Another thing to consider is that getting an extra checker off only helps if it saves you a roll (ie. leaves an even number of checkers left to bear off) and this doesnt even do that.
