Checker play
Here is one of those tricky little shifting plays that people don't even see as an option. It is the only good play and everything else is a huge blunder. I have to hit here so white can't escape and completely control the outfield. By playing 6/1, 6/5* I maintain a 3pt board, have good chances of covering on the next roll if I am not hit and white has a blot in their board even if I do get hit. Anything else just wastes checkers and puts them out of play.
Keys to remember: Always keep the shift in mind in the middle to late game, often it can make the difference. You can play a little more aggressively when your opponent has a blot in their board. You have to make the big play if your opponent is sure to escape otherwise.
