Shift shift shift! People tend to overlook the shift and I am one of them. Shifting points is a great way to keep your opponent off balance and not let them back in the game. If my opponent gets a one on the next roll they will anchor and be a pain in my side for the rest of the game. Here I have a chance to go for the gammon and end the game but I decided to go for the pretty 5 pt. prime instead. By shifting from the 3pt to the 1pt, I can keep my opponent off balance and keep going for the gammon.
Keys to remember: It is most often correct to use doubles by shifting points in your board putting your opponent on the bar and keep them off balance or not allow them to anchor.
