Doubles are often tough to play. When you have one of your
opponents men stuck in your board you also have to think about the shift
to keep them on the bar. I am usually reluctant to shift with my six pt. but
there are times when it is more important to have your opponent on the bar than
to have a pretty board. A four pt. board is a four pt. board no matter
what points are covered. The alternative of stacking men on the 3 point
isn't all that attractive anyway. The shift keeps my builders back and it puts
my opponent on the bar making it tougher for them to escape and easier for me
to get my back men moving on the next roll. Keys to remember:
Don't be afraid to shift from the six point. Anytime you can put your
opponent on the bar against a 4 point board, it's usually a good thing.
Dont bury your builders deep.
